Many believe that Medicare covers all medical expenses after paying into the system for a lifetime.  In this scenario, the Medicare recipient does not enroll or contact the Social Security Administration, believing that Medicare is on auto-pilot.  This could not be further from the truth.  At this point, there is no coverage and all expenses are the sole responsibility of the individual.
